I had the most fun playing as Specter Knight for this one! ( Donovan fans will know what's up!) The Trial of Offerings Quandary gives you the choice of a new modifier or reward per stage. Refract Realm Quandary gives each character an alternate ability to master. It's random so you won't know what you get until you're there. It also has a chance for 2 new modifiers for each level. First off there's the Legendary Path Quandary, this quest completely changes the structure of levels. I'll try to keep it as short as possible to avoid spoilers. I think you might be thinking of the Quandary Challenges found in Castle Quandary!Ĭelia ▸ As for how they're played, that's a very good question with a very long answer. Would you consider them to be their own modes and can you explain how they're played?Ĭelia ▸ Oh, the Hedge Farm and Castle Quandary are new areas to explore in the HUB. ▸ The new areas Hedge Farm and Castle Quandary look like they play with the core gameplay in interesting ways. Playing as Puzzle Knight and Mona is going to be awesomeĪ.J. Were there any inspirations for their distinct gameplay styles?Ĭelia ▸ When designing their abilities we really put emphasis on what made sense for their character and how much fun it would be. ▸ There is definitely a lot of new content in the Puzzler's Pack DLC and I'm itching to try out the new characters Puzzle Knight and Mona who seem to play very differently. I'm beyond excited for folks to find em.Ī.J. We also added in some AWESOME throwback secrets. Will we eventually see any returning characters or nods to the original?Ĭelia ▸ I think fans will be pleasantly surprised by some familiar and new characters alike. ▸ It's great to see that Pocket Dungeon will get free DLC updates like the OG Shovel Knight did. It'll give you access to all chests and give you even more explosions via keys! Very on brand for our green alchemist queen! Propeller Knight dukes it out with Liquid Samurais in the Tower of FateĪ.J. I personally enjoy experimenting with all sorts of different combinations and I'm curious: do you have any character/relic combos that you'd like players to try out?Ĭelia ▸ The cool thing about Pocket Dungeon is that you can customize your run with different characters, items, and relics to cater to your playstyle! With that being said, I'd recommend trying out Mona and grabbing the Super Skeleton Key while on your run. ▸ There's such a wide variety of fun characters to play as in Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon and relics that can really bring out their strengths. Puzzle Knights coincidentally had a lot of similarities to the Shovel Knight universe (with blob and skeleton enemies - and even Knights!!!) He enthusiastically agreed so we built a team around him and got to work! The rest is history. At the time, he was working on a game called Puzzle Knights with unique roguelike/puzzle mechanics meshed together. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is one of my favourite puzzle games of all time and an excellent spin-off all-around and it makes me wonder: what was the inspiration to make a puzzle game spin-off? v1d30chumz 194-143-137-78Ĭelia ▸ We absolutely love puzzle and roguelike-style games! Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon was actually a collaboration between our studio and a solo developer called Vine! We spotted his work on Twitter and reached out to him. □ I'm pumped for the Puzzler's Pack are you?Ī.J. │ Like you, Video Chums despises clickbait so you won't find any divisive content or articles that fuel the console wars here. Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is getting some free DLC soon and I asked Celia Schilling from Yacht Club Games all about it.
